“The cyclone completely devastated the island, leaving a terrible panorama of desolation, which left us stunned because no one imagined that this could happen. Hundreds or thousands of trees were uprooted, most of the roofs of houses and buildings were blown away by the cyclone, many cars, boats and businesses were destroyed, but the most terrible thing was the tens of thousands of tin houses completely destroyed with everything that was inside. Until now, they cannot quantify the human losses due to so many districts of the island which have completely disappeared, leaving layers of sheets and wood lying on the ground, a frightening scene which reflects the immense catastrophe that Mayotte is going through.” (Description of local inhabitants)

One of our subscribed volunteers is working there on a personal mission as a midwife. Her big stress now is to feed and provide water for the 11 people who are sheltered in her living room as well as herself, the stores having been looted... She no longer has any water at all in the tap nor electricity. The lack of electricity in town prevents them from withdrawing money as well as buying petrol. People are looting houses more and more and the heavy protective metal gates have flown away...
Please pray for the sister in the midst of the crisis there as well as for all the people who are suffering on this island which is heavily mixed up with the occult.
